This is a nice short video highlighting the need for technology in education. Although Dan Pink states that it’s “high touch” and not necessarily “hi-tech” in A Whole New Mind, educators still have an obligation to realize the impact of technology on the upcoming generation.
Like it or not, young people process things differently due to advances in technology. I can’t confirm many of the statistics in this video (a bibliography is provided), but the message is essentially true for the millennial generation: They need to be educated using the tools of their generation.
The essential aptitudes of A Whole New Mind are not compromised if they are developed using appropriate technology. Why not use digital story telling or online collaboration? It definitely won’t hurt. That’s why I like using Daniel Pink as a framework: It gives us a direction but is flexible enough to encompass any variety of techniques.
